Aldinga Camp Poem
by 123jam on Apr.28, 2010, under Uncategorized
Sights of……..shells and the blue sea when we went to the beach on the first day.
Sounds of……..the Kookaburras laughing as we sat listening to the teachers in the rec room.
Smells of……..the smoky fire that Uncle Wally made for the traditional fish cooking.
Touch of……..the plants that we were shown on the bush walk with Uncle Wally thought Aldinga scrub.
Taste of……..warm, tasty freshly baked lasagne on a cold night for dinner.

Inquiry – Who gets to be leader?
by 123jam on Mar.09, 2010, under Uncategorized
Part of this terms inquiry is who gets to be leader? In week 3 we had a person from world vision called Kieran come and talk to us about the 40 hour famine and leadership. He talked about what makes a leader. Some of the quality’s of a leader is kind, respectful and has leadership skills. After this talk we had to write in our inquiry books what we think is a good leader and the people we that we think are leaders to us. One of the people I thought was a leader was Wayne Rooney from Manchester United. I think he is a leader to me because he is a great role model and encourages me to play soccer. Then after all that we did a last man standing game with all the people we thought where leaders. I thought all this was great.

Six Hour Marathon
by 123jam on Jul.08, 2009, under Uncategorized
On Saturday I’ve got a marathon. Its called the six Hour Marathon. I race for a BMX/Bike racing club. Every year we have one of these marathons. We have to get as many sponsors as we can and if we raised enough money we get to go ice skating or bowling or something like that at the end of the year or when ever they can book in. Each hour we have a five minute break to have a drink, have something to eat or go to the canteen etc. After six hours we have a BBQ tea and play on the Wii and watch two movies. Then we go to sleep. The next morning we have racing like we do on a usual Sunday. So all my friends and me have been doing this for four years now. One of my friends and I have been at the club for 7 years. They use to do 12 hour marathons when I first joined. But that was way to long considering I was pretty young.
Australian Artist – Pro Hart
by 123jam on Jun.10, 2009, under Uncategorized
For homework this last fortnight we had to research and post about an Australian Artist. I choose a guy called Pro Hart. Here is what i found out.

Pro Hart was born in 1928 in Broken Hill. He grew up on a sheep station just out of Broken Hill. For education his mother and his elder brother tutored him. After he had left the sheep station he worked at Broken Hill Mines as a young man. He was painting at the age of seven and loved to sketch. He started to paint full time in 1958. As one of his ways of painting he would put paint in a balloon and blow it up the pop it on the paper. In 1960 he got married to Raylee June Tonkin. They had 5 children three boys and 2 girls. On the 28th of March 2006 he died. A large state funeral was held for him on April the 4th 2006.
That was what I had found on the Australian Artist Pro Hart
Inquiry Excursion to the Civic Center
by 123jam on Jun.10, 2009, under Uncategorized
On Tuesday last week we went on an excursion to the Civic Center of West Torrens Council. We got on the community bus. It took over an hour! It was so boring. And we had to do this quiz given to us from Ms H. It was a quiz of the route we’re going thorough. The quite was quite hard and all of these questions we had to watch out for every where. After an hour on the bus we got of and had Recess and a run around on the playground and the grass area. After a person called Trent who was a communications officer in the Building came out to talk to us about our local government. After he had a long talk to us we went inside and we got a show bag with some stuff in it like a pencil, eraser, pamphlets etc. We went upstairs after and went into a room. Trent had another talk to us. After he had finished we went into the Council Chambers. We sat in one of the seats around the room. I was one of the reporters witch reported back to the Messenger or Newspaper on the decisions that are made. When we had finished in there we went into another room where we played a game called My Place witch can be found here: http://www.freehand.co.uk/games/seera/. You can build your own city and get points for putting places in the right place. We got combined into another group because we where running out of time. When we left we got a muesli bar and went back down stairs and out of the building. When we got down the bus came and the other class got off and we got back on. It toke not even 10 minutes to get back because we didnt stop on the way. When we got back we went to the class room and had our lunch.

Inquiry Reflection

Inquiry Reflection
“Who Is Australian?”
Our Inquiry question for the last few weeks has been who is Australian? For this inquiry topic we were assigned a task. One was with our “study buddy” and another pair of “study buddies”, to gather with your “study buddy” the other pair you had to create an inquiry question. Our groups question was “What Makes Australia a Democratic Society?” We had two weeks to create a poster and a type either a large picture, a song or play; we chose to do a play. Our poster had a blue background. A picture in each corner with a piece of paper in the middle that had been burnt had coffee on it and was scrunched up.
As an extra task we had to do an assignment on a famous Australian. My study and I choose to do Ben Hall as our famous Australian. He was a well known bush ranger just like Ned Kelly. He was born in 19th of may 1837 and died in 1865. He was accused of a high way robbery and sent to jail. When he was in jail his house got burnt down and vandalized and his sheep and cattle we stolen and some killed. After he wanted revenge on the police. He made a gang and robbed a jewelery store. He died from getting shot in the back about 30 or more times. He was berried on Sunday the 7th of may at Forbes cemetery.
We think we went well with the inquiry unit for term 2. I really think that I had fun finding out about the Australian Democracy and The Famous Australian. My favorite part was the Famous Australian. We used the internet to find out the information and i hadn’t heard about Ben Hall before so I wanted to find out some stuff about him. In the end we had to make a timeline of their life.

iPods and mp3′s in the classroom
by 123jam on Mar.26, 2009, under Uncategorized

In class a lot of people want to have iPods and mp3s in class. On our homework grids this fortnight we have to right a post on our blogs. On Fridays we have our other teacher in our class room. We are allowed to bring them in while he is in the class room. Here are my opinions on what I think.
I think we should have iPods and mp3s in class because it could help us constraint on our work and we could have something to do other than talk. Plus we could get our work done on time. We could possibly not get distracted from other people around us. I also get distracted real easy. We could send home a sheet telling parents what they think about it. On the other hand some people might not have an iPod or mp3. People who do might have songs with swearing in it. We could send home a note saying that it has been checked for songs with swearing and get a parents signature.
On the other hand some parents might not have time to check. So maybe we could also check as well. That may take along time to do on the other hand. So maybe the teacher could look up the lyrics. That’s is what i think we should do. We have a lot of people in our class who are wanting to bring them in. If you could leave some links and a comment that would be great.
